Earn Toward Medallion Status with Delta Vacations Terms and Conditions

  • Beginning January 1, 2024, SkyMiles Members will earn one (1) MQD per US$1 of the Total Package Price for every completed Delta Vacations package when booked through Delta Vacations online, via Delta Vacation’s Customer Engagement Center, or through an authorized travel advisor. “Total Package Price” means the total value of the package in USD spent on Eligible Flights, base hotel rental rate, base car rental rate, car transfer rate, cost of activities booked, but excluding taxes, fees, insurance, room service, other booking charges, amounts paid directly to the hotel, car or activity provider, or any element of the booking which is paid or reduced by vouchers or discount codes. “Eligible Flights” means Delta-marketed flights in Main Cabin or above (flight numbers that include the “DL” airline code), flights marketed by Core Global Airline Partners that have a Delta ticket number (ticket number beginning with “006”) and SkyTeam-marketed flights operated by a SkyTeam member airline that have a Delta ticket number (ticket number beginning with “006”), in each case which is booked through Delta Vacations direct via our Customer Engagement Center, or through an authorized travel advisor. Eligible Flights expressly excludes flights marketed by airlines that are not Delta Core Global Airline partners or SkyTeam members. Qualifying car rental bookings include rentals at a participating location for one or more days at rates other than travel industry rates or discounts, wholesale of tour package rates or discounts, wholesale tour package rates, insurance/dealer replacement rates, corporate and government rates, group travel discounts, or rentals in conjunction with a frequent flyer car award, or other corporate agreements applicable to the respective car company.
  • SkyMiles Members will be awarded the MQDs as follows:
    • All passengers listed in the Delta Vacations booking will earn on the flight portion of the package based on the following:
        • Flight Option #1: If the sum of all passengers’ Exception Fares is greater than or equal to the Total Package Price, then the number of flight MQDs earned by each passenger = (Total Package Price / total # of passengers on the booking itinerary)
        • Flight Option #2: If the sum of all passengers’ Exception Fares is less than the Total Package Price, then the number of flight MQDs earned by each passenger = MQD’s for such passenger’s flight calculated using the Exception Fare policy.
  • In addition to the MQDs earned on the flight component (if applicable), the passenger who books the package will earn MQDs on the nonflight portion of the Total Package Price based on the following:
    1. If the flight MQDs for all passengers were calculated using flight option 1 above: No additional nonflight MQDs earned.
    2. If the flight MQDs for all passengers were calculated using flight option 2 above: The number of additional nonflight MQDs earned by the primary passenger = Total Package Price – (sum of all passengers’ Exception Fares).
    3. If no flight is attached to the booking, only the primary passenger earns nonflight MQDs equivalent to the Total Package Price.
  • If a SkyMiles Member pays for a Delta Vacations package using miles, the calculation listed above will not apply. Instead, members paying with miles will earn 1 MQD for every 100 Delta miles redeemed on a Delta Vacations booking. If payment is split between miles and other forms of payment, the portion paid using cash or other similar forms of payment will earn MQDs based on the calculation set forth above, and the mileage potion of the payment will earn MQDs at a rate of 1 MQD per 100 miles. Terms and conditions of mileage redemption apply; for full terms, visit Use Miles.
  • This calculation does not apply to packages of 8 people or more (“Group Packages”). On Group Packages, each passenger will only be eligible to earn MQDs on the flight portion of the package using the Exception Fares policy.
  • Generally, posting of MQDs and miles to a SkyMiles Member’s account depends on when Delta receives information related to the qualifying purchase. For Delta Vacations miles and MQDs, please allow up to 8 weeks after completion of a Delta-marketed flight for flight miles and MQDs to be deposited in SkyMiles account and 8 weeks after completion of eligible car rental or hotel stay for miles and MQDs to be deposited in SkyMiles account. No MQDs will be awarded for any portion of the package not consumed by the passengers in the booking.

Earn Flight Miles with Delta Vacations

  • Purchase any Delta Vacations package that includes a flight, from any Delta Vacations origin in the U.S. to any Delta Vacations destination, up to 331 days before travel, for travel anytime.
  • Miles and status are awarded to qualified customers for purchasing the following package types: flight and hotel stay, flight and hotel stay plus qualified car rental, flight and car.
  • Qualified customer means individuals with a SkyMiles number included in the reservation. Infants under two years of age who travel on an infant fare are excluded. All qualified customers must be listed as guests and use the package travel components to qualify for miles.
  • For vacation packages that include a flight component, the SkyMiles member will earn miles on their flight one of two ways based on their trip at time of booking: (1) "Miles when you fly" or (2) “Miles when you fly with exception fares", as determined at the time of booking. The “Miles when you fly” calculation will assume the SkyMiles member earns 5 miles for each $1 spent on the flight ticket (excluding taxes and government-imposed fees) for Delta-marketed flights (flight numbers that include the “DL” airline code). For identified Medallion Members, the calculation will reflect the mileage multiplier associated with their Status level (i.e., up to 11 miles for Diamond Medallion Members). For purposes of this calculation, Delta Vacations will assume the value of the flight ticket will be equal to the retail value at the time of booking of the same ticket with the same flight number, date, cabin, fare class, fare basis code, and ticket price provided that a portion of this information may only be available to Delta Vacations and not the SkyMiles member. The "Miles when you fly with exception fares" calculation will assume the SkyMiles member earns miles on exception fares based on a percentage of the distance flown on the selected flight. The percentage is determined by and the fare class. For additional information on how to calculate miles, visit “Miles when you fly with exception fares.” The member will receive the greater of "Miles when you fly" or "Miles when you fly with exception fares" at the time of booking, as determined by Delta Vacations in its sole discretion, plus an additional 100 miles.
